A Tip from Coach Sadler
|
 |
Since I have a background in athletic training,
my first tip to improve your golf game will have to do with keeping in
shape! I have taught you the proper technique for stretching and lifting
weights. We, as coaches, expect you to be eating right and getting your
cardiovascular workouts in on a routine basis. Do you remember anything we
told you the first week of school? I sure hope so, because when we lift
and swim as a team on Fridays at the natatorium, your technique looks
good. It’s when I am not with you that I worry! So, here are some good
habits to follow before a swim, a round of golf, or a trip to the weight
room.
 | Always stretch prior to doing ANYTHING!! If
you don’t, you will have soreness the next day that could have been
prevented. Target the areas you are about to use!! |
|
 | If you are about to lift weights, get
on a stationary bike for 5 minutes just to warm up. Nothing strenuous, just
an easy 5 minutes to get your blood pumping.
|
 | When you can, lift in front of a mirror to
ensure proper posture and technique. It is safer and more motivating
that way!
|
|
 |
 | You should plan on cardiovascular workouts at
least 3 times a week. This sounds crazy, but walking 18 holes of golf
is harder than you think! |
